TREENET is an independent non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the urban forest. We depend on support from the public, government and interested groups.
A National Project which aims to honour with a tree the memory of every individual who has made the supreme sacrifice on behalf of all Australians by documenting, preserving and reinstating the original and establishing new Avenues of Honour by the Centenary of Anzac in 2015.
2008 TREENET Symposium "The Role of Trees in the 21st Century"
TREENET is pleased to announce the theme for the 2008 symposium "The Role of Trees in the 21st Century" Thursday 4th September at the National Wine Centre and Friday 5th September at the Waite Arboretum Programme to be announced shortly but registrations of interest invited Cost $550 inc gst and up to 20% discount for Institutional members
TREENET Cofounder and Director David Lawry received an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the Queens Birthday honours announced recently. The citation was: "For service to arboriculture and the environment, particularly through research and support for sustainable plantings in the urban landscape, and to the community through the Avenues of Honour project."
Whilst it is a great personal honour, this award will help to raise awareness of the value of TREENET, and the urban forest in particular, to the broader community. David wonders whether it is was awarded by the renowned Arb Educator from NSW, Judy Fakes, who was crowned "Queen of Arboriculture" at the 2006 symposium!
David Lawry (OAM) wishes to thank all those who have emailed or phoned to congratulate him.
